Dr. Rey Canlas’ areas of interest include work-related concerns, career planning and management, mental toughness training, and psychological evaluation for talent acquisition. He is a Registered Psychologist and obtained his Master’s degree in Industrial- Organizational Psychology from Ateneo De Manila University, and his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the De La Salle University-Manila.
During his 31 years both in the academe and private practice, Doc Rey served as a counselor, workshop facilitator, and lecturer in different educational institutions and a consultant in corporate setting. Aside from Pilipino and English, he is also fluent in Hiligaynon (Ilonggo).
In addition to the practice of IO and Counseling Psychology, Rey is also Sport Psychology consultant. He was the Vice-President of the Association of Sport Psychologists and Physical Educators of the Philippines (ASPPEP); and was the Psychologist of the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) and the Philippine Team Psychologist during the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games at Indonesia (2011), Myanmar (2013), Singapore (2015), Malaysia (2017), and the Philippines (2019); Asian Games at Korea (2014); and Asian Beach Games, Vietnam (2016). He designed and implemented the psychological skills training program of weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz which earned Diaz a silver medal during the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Rey is at present a counselor at the top EAP service provider in the country-In Touch Community Services, and a Consultant Psychologist of the top Bank in the country.
