Description
Quito returned to the Philippines after 28 years abroad (Japan, Belgium, UK), and has considerable personal acquaintance with cultural adjustment issues. Her training in different therapeutic approaches – a strong psychodynamic core underpinning cognitive /behavioral methods and mindfulness-based practices – enables her to take a whole-of-life approach based on the unique individual needs of each client.
Quito has a Postgraduate Counseling Diploma from Birmingham (UK) University, with further professional training as a Mindfulness teacher at the Centre for Mindfulness Research, Bangor University, Wales, and the Oxford Mindfulness Centre, UK. In 2018, she completed the Level 1 Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy Facilitation Certification, awarded by the Centre of Mindfulness Studies, Toronto. She is a registered, accredited member of the British Association of Counseling and Psychotherapy.
In the UK, Quito worked as a counselor in a National Health Service (NHS) Medical Practice, as a university staff and student counselor, and in private practice. Currently, she works with Filipino and expat individuals and couples on stress and anxiety issues, cultural adjustment, depression, loss, family, marriage and work relationships, and personal transformation.
Quito has a strong and continuing commitment to Mindfulness, and delivers corporate talks/presentations on Mindful Attention Training to help alleviate stress from the ever-increasing workplace demands on both company leaders and employees. For couples’ work, she draws on systemic theory and the couples coaching principles of Hedy and Yumi Schleifer. Together with clients, she works to explore difficulties to help them discover their inner resources that can empower them to work on living a more purposeful, integrated and happier life.
