Description

Mary Mia “Mik” G. Villanueva, RPsy, RPm is a licensed Psychologist in the Philippines and a member of the Psychological Association of the Philippines. She practices from an evidence-based approach, drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and humanistic-existential therapy. She currently serves as a faculty member in the Department of Psychology at Far Eastern University.

Beyond teaching and clinical practice, Mik has been involved in community-based mental health initiatives. She previously served as Project Manager of Project Dial-A-Friend, a volunteer-led, chat-based emotional support program that provided compassionate listening and emotional support to college students.

She has also contributed to research evaluating the feasibility and effectiveness of a Mindfulness-Based Resilience Training program for frontline workers in Valenzuela City. Her research interests center on help-seeking, bullying, parenting, and resilience, with a commitment to advancing inclusive and evidence-informed psychological care.
