Description

Klara Maxine Giron is a licensed Psychologist in the Philippines and is a registered Substance Abuse Counselor at the California Drug Treatment Program (CADTP). She obtained her Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from Holy Names University in California. She is currently taking her PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Santo Tomas. She worked with people who are incarcerated at San Quentin State Prison where she facilitated Anger Management, Social Skills, Individual and Group Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Substance Use Disorder Therapy – including the 12 Steps to Recovery. Maxine also has experience working with Juveniles who are on probation at Camp Sweeney located in Alameda Probation Department. She was also the Supervising Case Manager at GEO Reentry Services, an organization affiliated with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

As for her professional development, she has been involved with trainings on Harm Reduction Therapy (HRT) in Community Mental Health, Multicultural Leadership Development, Multicultural Psychology and Women’s health, as well as Engaging with Individuals with Co-Occuring Disorders and Mental Illnesses.
