Dr. Rene Samaniego

Rene M. Samaniego, M.D., FPPA

Dr. Rene Samaniego is a practicing psychiatrist, both in the hospital and private backdrop.

He completed his residency training in psychiatry at the Makati Medical Center, after which he pursued further training in the U.S.A on Psychosomatic Medicine at the George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and Inova-Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia.

He also underwent training on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy at The Beck Institute in Bala Cynwyd, Philadephia, and attended workshops under the Washington Society of Jungian Psychology.

He has served as a consultant psychiatrist for In Touch Community Services for the past eight years.  Concurrently, he is a consultant psychiatrist at the Makati Medical Center, where he functions as the Section of Psychiatry’s consultation-liaison officer and research coordinator.

His clinical practice encompasses both psychopharmacologic and psychotherapeutic management of various psychiatric conditions, ranging from schizophrenia and other thinking disorders; mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder; anxiety disorders including generalized anxiety, panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorder, social phobia, acute stress and post-traumatic stress, to name a few.

He regularly conducts stress management workshops for both local and international corporations.  On the side, he also gives lectures and workshops on Jungian psychology, particularly on topics as mythology, fairy tales, and midlife issues.

Aside from his psychiatric practice, he is also involved in the academe and is a faculty staff of the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health.
